Indexability & Crawlability

Site Speed

In May 2020, Google announced the new algorithm update that will be focused on measuring how users experience the performance of web pages, this is set to be rolled out some time in 2021.

These new metrics will look at page experience to ensure both desktop and mobile are optimised in accordance with 3 new measurements.

  • Largest Contentful Paint (LCP): measures loading performance. To provide a good user experience, LCP should occur within 2.5 seconds of when the page first starts loading.
  • First Input Delay (FID): measures interactivity. To provide a good user experience, pages should have a FID of less than 100 milliseconds.
  • Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS): measures visual stability. To provide a good user experience, pages should maintain a CLS of less than 0.1.

Semantic SEO

Producing content around exact keywords and spamming them within the content is no longer a valid SEO strategy. Semantic SEO is about the relationship between words and topics.

When it comes to building out content on your website, it’s important that you explore the subject in detail. Consider what the user would expect to see. Structure the content in such a way that is meaningful and provides answers to the users search query. Furthermore, consider additional pages of content that relate to any given subject. Schema

Schema markup is a way to label content on your site with specific meaning using structured data. It is similar in some respects to meta tags, but uses schema.org vocabularies in order to connect structured data from multiple websites into a single result.
