Central taxis have been at the top of Google’s local pack for a long time, but a recent Google update in May 2020 saw a competitor take the number 1 spot for “taxi letchworth”
Performing a local SEO audit discovered a number of issues for Central Taxis. NAP (Name, address, phone number) was inconsistent throughout the web, with many directories pointing to old addresses. The site’s internal linking structure required significant improvements, page titles and meta descriptions needed work, and the mobile experience was difficult due to the formatting of content and broken menus.
Changes to their Google my Business account coupled with responses to user reviews was also carried out.
Competitor analysis was performed to further understand why Google had given a competitor more weight. To my surprise, the competitor had no working website other than a Facebook page. Other competitors had little to no domain authority, limited backlinks or no domain history at all. Furthermore, Central Taxis Letchworth had hundreds of positive reviews.
With such little competition, this was going to be an easy fix.
Once the necessary local SEO audit was complete, all necessary actions were taken to help Google and users better understand the core topics of the site, its services and the relationship between each page.
Within 4 weeks, Central Taxis Letchworth were back to position 1 within the local pack.
